Our quartet played for a second time at the beautiful San Marco Preservation Hall and then for cocktail hour at Matthew's Restaurant. The last time we played there in September, another bride happened to walk by and hear our group warming up and decided to have her wedding there with the Jacksonville String Quartet! For our March wedding, we got to try out some of our new pop arrangements for quartet including Yellow by Coldplay and Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley. Olivia and Anna played a second wedding this Saturday at the elegant River House in St. Augustine. Special music included Sunrise, Sunset for the processional and a mix of Beatles tunes and pop music for the cocktail hour. Thanks to photographer Jamie Draluck for the fantastic photos!

Olivia and Anna played as a duet right in the heart of historic St. Marys, first at the Presbyterian Church and then across the street at the Orange Hall for cocktail hour. The acoustics in the historic church were incredible and quite a treat for us classical musicians. We just love any excuse to come see the beautiful scenery in St. Marys and play in 19th century buildings!

The JSQ got to play one of our rare quartet weddings in the beautiful, historic Fernandina Beach. This was our group's first time playing in Fernandina and we have to say, we don't mind the drive at all! Jeremy, Monique, Leah and Anna performed a mix of classical and pop including the Viva la Vida by Coldplay for the recessional. Here's a few photos we snapped on the iPhone.

Oldest House Museum and Gardens

Olivia and Anna played another duet wedding in historic downtown St. Augustine. It was our first time playing at the Oldest House and it was one of the prettiest venues and weddings we've played at. We wish we had our own photographer! It was a really fun ceremony to be a part of and we loved seeing how much fun the couple and wedding party had. Here's a photo we took from Angela and Brent's wedding blog. Before the wedding, Angela shared with us their plan to have a "Haiti-moon" instead of a honeymoon. The couple used their vacation to go on a missions trip to help with the earthquake recovery in Haiti. We absolutely loved this idea and just had to share it with you all :)

Our trio played another great wedding on Sunday, right on the St. Johns River at Club Continental. The view was gorgeous as always, but we had the most fun playing some of our favorite music including Don't Stop Believin' by Journey, songs by the Killers and Oasis. The Players Club - Sawgrass

Our trio of violin, viola and cello played a Sunday wedding and cocktail hour this past weekend in Ponte Vedra. It was our first time playing at TPC and we absolutely loved it. The event flowed seamlessly from the ceremony in the Sunset Room, to the adjacent room for cocktail hour and right into the great dining hall. We also got to play a few new pieces for the ceremony including When I Fall in Love, First Time I Loved Forever and Once Upon a Dream. Congratulations to the Garcia-Guevaras!

This past Sunday, Monique and Anna played as a duet for a summer wedding and cocktail hour in Orange Park. We were happy to have a nice breeze coming off the river and to be able to enjoy the nice, sunny weather. The reception went smoothly and we especially enjoyed the young Maid of Honor and Best Man's speeches. Congratulations to Mark and Michelle!

Our trio played an elegant, summer wedding in Riverside Jacksonville this past weekend. We played almost all non-traditional music and it came off perfectly! The song list included: The Rose by Bette Midler, Don't Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith, Can't Help Myself (Sugarpie, Honeybunch) by the Four Tops and many others. We had a lot of fun learning some new music and may be adding a few of them into our regular repertoire!

Monique and Anna played as a duet at the Palm Valley Gardens in Ponte Vedra, Florida. We got to learn some fun tunes for the ceremony including Redemption Song by Bob Marley and Viva la Vida by Coldplay. We also got to meet the awesome reception band who were nice enough to let us use their equipment. Be sure to check out Dish the band. We were simply amazed by their talent and are sure you will be too.

We only got to listen to them warm up a bit but, as you can tell by the look on Monique's face, it was amazing!

House of Sea and Sun

St. Augustine Beach

Anna played a solo wedding right on the beach in front of the adorable bed and breakfast, House of Sea and Sun. The couple celebrated their union all weekend with their closest friends and family. The ceremony was one of the sweetest I've witnessed and I feel honored to have been a part of it. Congratulations to the happy couple!

I had some free time to check out the pier and take a few pictures in St. Augustine beach. Absolutely gorgeous!

Anna and Monique played a beautiful ceremony and cocktail hour, just in sight of the water in the historical part of St. Marys, Georgia. Duets were performed both as violin/cello and cello/guitar and included Somewhere Over the Rainbow and Can't Help Falling in Love. We thoroughly enjoyed the views of the water and friendly people and hope to play in St. Marys more often.

Monique broke out the guitar to accompany a singer for a beautiful rendition of Tyrone Well's Looking at Her Face. It was such a relaxing ceremony and we loved meeting all of the family members from Germany and the UK. Congrats to the beautiful couple Cati and Leighton!

This past weekend has been a whirlwind! We played 3 performances for 2 different churches for the Easter Holiday AND a wedding! We would like to thank John Baskin, the orchestra director at Evangel Temple, for helping us with all the music arrangements amidst the chaos of putting on a full dramatic and musical production. Everyone at Evangel Temple was so kind and friendly and we had a blast and hope to play with them again! We'd also like to thank Maureen Rhodes at Christ the Redeemer. This is our second Easter service with them and they were wonderful to work with as always. Thanks to Maureen for all the sweet gifts and for looking out for her fellow working musicians!

One Ocean Resort

Monique and Anna played a ceremony right next to the ocean in Atlantic Beach this past Saturday. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful and everything went perfectly with help from the amazing jazz musicians from the cocktail hour and the sound technician. We had so much fun meeting all the interesting wedding workers and the wedding party.

This weekend, we played as a quartet for Brian and Stephanie's wedding in St. Augustine. It was a gorgeous, sunny day and we were happy to have our first wedding of the day flow seamlessly.

Peña-Peck Women's Exchange

Today, Monique and Anna played a duet in the heart of historic St. Augustine for Chrissy and Brandon's wedding. The ceremony took place right in the middle of the famous St. George Street. The wedding was themed around the beautiful first city and guests were encouraged to explore the area before heading to the reception.

Monique played a lovely solo of Ave Maria for the processional. The music selections were a mix of classic and contemporary including All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera for the bridal processional, the Beatles' All You Need Is Love and Vivaldi's Spring for the recessional.

The wedding party listens as friends give a beautiful reading during the ceremony. We particularly enjoyed the reading of Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss.

Monique and Anna played for a ceremony at the gorgeous, historical Old St. Andrews Episcopal Church in downtown Jacksonville. The wedding was themed around black and white and everything matched including the sand for the sand ceremony! It was a gorgeous day, fitting for this beautiful ceremony and church.

Monique and Anna played a duet ceremony and short cocktail hour for Will and Pam's wedding at the always elegant Le Jardin on Park St. Despite the frigid temperatures it was a warm and lovely ceremony. The music choices added to the classic beauty of this winter wedding. Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring was played for the grandmothers processional, Pachelbel's Canon in D for the bridal processional and Bach's Air on a G string for the lighting of the unity candle.

Two of our violinists, Monique and Olivia, will be soloing at Benny's Steak and Seafood at the Jacksonville Landing. This is one of the few opportunities to see us live, since we mostly play private events.
